1. Creating a Marketing Plan
A. Define the Event
i. Who, what, when, where, how (to get tickets, student pre-sale discount, more information, etc.)
B. Establish the Budget
i. How much can you spending on marketing?
C. Decide Type of PR
i. Flyers, posters, radio, newspaper, email, etc.
D. Timeline
i. Decide when to start campaign (different techniques and their times/dates)
ii. Start 3-4 weeks out from the event and hit especially hard the week of the event.

i. Timing is important! Cannot wait until last minute to start marketing

C. Variety in Style
i. Try multiple methods. Don’t do just one thing! Use different media such as flyers, radio, newspapers, posters, etc. More people are reached through using variety.
D. Use Local Radio
i. Local radio stations can provide great exposure for concerts. Let them do ticket giveaways and promotions. Allow a station to be on site for the event and present the show, then they will be willing to do more for free.
E. Creativity
i. Brainstorm with committee to come up with new and exciting ways to promote the event.
