WILLIAM MORRIS SIGNS CHRISTIAN CHARLES

(October 8, 2002, Beverly Hills, CA) Writer and director Christian Charles has signed with the William Morris Agency for representation in all areas.

Charles directed "Comedian," the upcoming Miramax release that follows Jerry Seinfeld around the country's comedy clubs as he develops new material for his stand-up act. "Comedian" opens in Los Angeles and New York on Oct. 11.

Charles co-wrote and directed the film's innovative trailer and commercial spots, which have been generating substantial heat in recent weeks, and he also co-developed the multi-media advertising campaign for the film, along with business partner and "Comedian" producer Gary Streiner. It was Charles' short film, "Close to the Wind," that originally caught Seinfeld's attention and helped pave the way for "Comedian."

Charles began his career in London with advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather. His background in English literature, photography and art quickly led to writing and art directing television commercials with some of Britain's most noted commercial directors.

In 1993 he transferred to New York and continued to work on Ogilvy's television advertising campaigns for clients such as Pepsi, Lucasfilm and most notably American Express, for whom he co-developed the popular and award-winning ad campaign featuring Seinfeld. He has won numerous awards during his career, including the Cannes Bronze Lion.

During the height of the American Express spots, Charles accepted an invitation to join a three-man crew in a 16-month yacht race around the world, and after completing his lifelong goal, he returned to New York to pursue a career as a writer and director.

Charles, the co-founder and owner of Bridgnorth Films with Streiner, is currently working on a new American Express ad campaign with Seinfeld and is writing and developing new ideas for motion pictures.
