SMOLLER TO HEAD SPORTS MARKETING DEPARTMENT AT WILLIAM MORRIS
Sampras, Williams, Fox, Shriver & Sanders Now Playing for WMA

Jill Smoller, who brings with her one of the most muscular sports rosters
in the industry, has joined the William Morris Agency as Vice President,
Sports Marketing. Effective immediately, Smoller will head a new division
within WMA spearheading sports marketing efforts on behalf of WMA clients
throughout the world.
Accompanying Smoller, who left AMG to join WMA, are such heavyweights
as Pete Sampras, Rick Fox, Serena Williams, Pam Shriver, Ashley Harkleroad,
Marie Eve Pelletier, Summer Sanders, Tim Ryan, Jon Kelley, Chris Meyers
and Van Earl Wright.
Smoller will be responsible for on- and off-field representation including
motion picture, television, commercial, licensing, broadcast and sponsorship
opportunities for athletes and other sports figures as they expand and
diversify their careers. She will be the Agency's inter-departmental link
from which a wide range of sports marketing activities will originate
"As the line between entertainment and sports becomes less distinct,
we felt the time was right to commit the agency to a world-class sports
marketing franchise," noted Jim Wiatt, President and Co-CEO of William
Morris. "Jill's reputation and success in sports representation will
be a great asset to the Agency." In the past, Smoller worked closely
with Wiatt and Dave Wirtschafter, Worldwide Head of Motion Pictures for
WMA.
Said Smoller: "William Morris is a perfect fit not only because
of its impressive infrastructure and reach as an agency, but also because
of the opportunities I'll have to work with several of my former colleagues
and mentors."
Before joining AMG two years ago, Smoller helped build the Sports Entertainment
Division at International Creative Management, where she began as an agent
trainee in 1996 after a 7-year career on the professional tennis circuit.
During her career at ICM and AMG, Smoller serviced an impressive mix of
high-profile clients in a variety of areas, including tennis, ice skating,
broadcasting, basketball and track & field.
Smoller's clients include:
- Pete Sampras - One of the greatest men's
tennis players in the history of the sport, Sampras has won 13 Grand Slam
singles titles and was ranked No. 1 in the world for more than 7 years.
Smoller exclusively represents Sampras in all areas.
- Rick Fox - A two-time
NBA World Champion as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Fox is also
an actor. He has appeared on the HBO series "Oz" and in various other
films. Smoller represents Fox in all areas, with shared representation
in film and television.
- Serena Williams - A winner of 13 singles titles
and one Grand Slam singles title, Serena Williams is one of the most talented
stars on the women's tennis circuit, an honor she shares with her sister
Venus. WMA represents Serena's entertainment related endeavors.
- Pam
Shriver - A former tennis great who won 22 Grand Slam doubles titles and
21 singles titles in her career, Shriver is now a women's tennis commentator
for ESPN. Smoller represents Shriver in all areas.
- Ashley Harkleroad
- One of the world's top junior tennis players, Harkleroad turned pro
last year and is steadily climbing through the women's rankings. Smoller
represents Harkleroad in all areas.
- Marie Eve Pelletier - One of the
top women's tennis players in Canada, Pelletier is climbing through the
world rankings. Smoller represents Pelletier in all areas.
- Summer Sanders
- A four-time Olympic medallist in swimming, Sanders has made the switch
to television as a co-host of NBA Inside Stuff, a Today Show reporter
and the host of the syndicated US Olympic Gold Show. Smoller represents
Sanders in all areas.
- Tim Ryan - A longtime sportscaster who has covered
a variety of sports, including boxing, football, basketball and hockey.
Ryan recently provided commentary for alpine skiing as part of NBC's coverage
of the Salt Lake Winter Olympics. Smoller represents Ryan in Broadcasting.
- Jon Kelley - Formerly the main anchor of "The National Sports Report"
and "Baseball Today" at Fox Sports, Kelley recently joined EXTRA as a
correspondent. Smoller represents Kelley in Broadcasting.
- Chris Meyers
- An anchor on Fox Sports for football and NASCAR, Meyers also hosts the
USA Network's tennis coverage of the US Open. Smoller represents Meyers
in Broadcasting.
- Van Earl Wright - An anchor on Fox Sports. Smoller
represents Wright in Broadcasting.
