When artists strike a universal chord, their popularity, influence
and significance usually increase exponentially. Therefore, it makes
sense that a hip-hop band who spreads a message of upliftment would
be destined to rule the pop music charts and enjoy the respect of
millions of fans. The group prepared to hold that position is 4th
Avenue Jones'. Anchored by Ahmad, whose 1994 single "Back In
The Day" thrust him into hip-hop's elite, 4th Avenue Jones'
is a hip-hop outfit who avoid trite commentary on violence and drugs.
Instead, the group uses its music to spread a message of empowerment,
as vocalists Ahmad, Tena Jones and Jabu flow flawlessly over the
always-strong instrumentation supplied by Tim (guitar), Phat Albert
(not pictured - bass), Drummy Dave (drums), and Gailybird (violin).
It's a group that thrives on its live shows and makes ample use
of its accomplished musicians during each performance, as Ahmad,
