| Considered by many to be the "Founding
Fathers of Funk," THE METERS created a unique sound that made
them the preeminent funk band of the sixties and
seventies.
Their trademark sound blended funk, blues and dance grooves into
a gumbo of upbeat New Orleans vibe. They toured with The Rolling
Stones (75 dates in the 1970's in the U.S. and Europe), served as
the studio band for Paul McCartney, Robert Palmer and Dr. John -
and bands such as The Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic!, Ben Harper
and The Neville Brothers often played their music.
