| Kirstie Alley has emerged as one
of the great actresses of her generation proving time and again
that she is capable of great depth and range as well as possessing
a comedic timing second to none.
Alley recently wrapped production on the Lifetime original movie,
“And She Was” which in addition to starring in, she
also executive produced. The movie is set to air in the summer of
2007.
In 2005, Alley co-created, executive produced, and starred in the
Showtime Networks series “Fat Actress.” Alley played
a comedic interpretation of herself as a once successful actress
struggling in Hollywood after putting on some extra weight. After
the series ended, Alley became the spokesperson for Jenny Craig
and subsequently lost 75 pounds. She unveiled her new body by appearing
in a bikini on a highly anticipated episode of “The Oprah
Winfrey Show.”
From 1997-2000, Alley played the title character in the NBC sitcom
“Veronica’s Closet.” This popular series garnered
several award nominations including the 1998 People’s Choice
Award for “Best New Comedy Series.” In addition, Alley’s
comedic talent was recognized as she was nominated for a Golden
Globe, an Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Once again, Alley’s
fans showed their support as they voted her the 1998 People’s
Choice Award for Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series.
