With musical influences ranging from the jazz funk sounds of Roy Ayers and Lonnie Liston Smith to US deep house, via electro, punk and hip hop, and a production style that can switch effortlessly from laid back soulful jazziness to the darkest and grimiest of  beats and b-lines, it is hardly surprising that Kevin King, best known as Lemon D, after over ten years of production, has moulded himself the reputation as one of the most versatile producers in drum’n’bass today.

Kevin King embarked on his musical journey from a fairly young age at the tender age of eleven, he was already b-boying: graffing, breakdancing and battling it out with the local crews in order to be eligible to receive the latest electro and pioneering hip hop mixtapes fresh from the States. A few years down the line, however, Kevin became interested by the sounds of US house and the Detroit influenced techno of Derrick May and Juan Atkins which had began to filter through to the UK.  Like many of his cohorts, an investment in a pair of turntables in 1990 was the next step, and he was soon purchasing vinyl in vast quantities and putting on small parties locally. With a friend he began DJing under the moniker of Le Monde – French for the world.
